The price of the PS5 is very similar to the Xbox Series X. This section describes the new PlayStation 5.
PlayStation 5 is coming soon. So you already know the specs, design, controls, and most importantly, the price and release date.
When will the PS5 be released?
The PlayStation 5 will be available in the US, Japan, and several other countries on November 12, but in Spain and other countries, you will have to wait a week before it goes on sale, or until November 19.
In China, the official date is not yet known. According to the company, the date is “still under investigation.”
How much does a new PlayStation cost?
The standard PS5 costs $ 499. There’s also a cheap PS5 digital version for $ 399 without a Blu-ray disc drive.
Based in part on the current retail prices for the PS4 (329.99 euros) and PS4 Pro (409 euros), that’s more or less what we expected.
In terms of competition, the Xbox Series X has been confirmed to cost $ 499, while the diskless Xbox Series S (which has fewer specs than the PS5 Digital) costs $ 299.
Don’t miss the first announcement of PS5
The first PS5 TV commercial has already been released and is worth watching even if nothing new is revealed about the console.
How about the PS5 design?
It boasts a stand designed to sit perpendicular to the curved edges, but you can rest assured that you can sleep horizontally. This means it should fit comfortably on most TV stands, unlike Microsoft’s locked Xbox Series X design.
Also, as mentioned earlier, there are two versions, one with a disk drive and one without a disk, and of course, the latter is a bit smaller. Both have both a USB-A port and a USB-C port on the front.
And a command?
Since Sony officially announced the PS5 Bundles controller DualSense in April 2020, controllers are an area where we have something concrete.
Besides the impressive black and white color scheme, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you need to remember which shape goes where because the color code of the face button is missing.
The light bars rumored to have been cut from the new pad are still here, but they are located on both sides of the touchpad in the center of the controller.
The share button has been renamed to the create button, and Sony has teased that it could better integrate with streaming or social media services to share content.
It also has a built-in microphone, so you don’t need a dedicated headset (although I don’t think the quality matches the quality of a good headset). USB-C charging is a welcome touch in 2020.
As for the actual controls, it’s almost the same. The adaptive triggers on the L2 and R2 are a big improvement, and when combined with the improved tactile feedback, you can feel the string-pulling tension in Sony’s example.
What are the specifications of the PS5?
- Core Specifications:
- 7nm 8 cores AMD Zen 2 CPU
- Radeon Navi GPU with ray-tracing support
- 825 GB of SSD storage
- 16GB GDDR6 RAM
PS5 is equipped with AMD CPU and GPU, and aims to realize a gaming experience of up to 8K @ 120fps.
The CPU is based on AMD’s Ryzen series 3rd generation and includes 8 cores in the new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. This is very similar to the next Xbox CPU, also based on Zen 2.
The company emphasized that the chipset was designed in collaboration with AMD and that the collaboration is bidirectional. This means that AMD may use some of the features on the PS4 to boot the CPU or GPU of a consumer PC, but this is the result of a direct collaboration between the two companies, Sony just using standard components. It’s not a problem.
